No sound from front headphone socket

Can anyone help.? I have a Dell e520 desktop PC and the onboard sound is terrible so i put in a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card and it is great but there is no sound from the headphone socket on the front of the PC. Does anyone know if i can do something to remedy this ( it was a lot easier to put the headphones in the front rather than have to scrabble about at the back of the PC)

any help would be gratefully recieved.

In the past Dells would use a cable with a white multi-way plug on the end to connect the soundcard to the internal wiring - I think this is a standard cable, I don't know if this applies to your model, but certainly all my Dells have had to have a soundcard with the necessary socket too, which basically meant not all cards will work.

unless this is a headphone socket in a front panel that came with the creative card then it's still plugged into the internal sound.
All important data is backed up. If you didn't back it up it wasn't important
