Dead Space (EA's survival horror game) - Xbox 360 and PS3

Makes a change for EA to make a new game then churning out the same old games, although the game looks like a mixture of several titles eg resident evil 4, system shock and bioshock (not that's a bad thing)

As a fan of SH type games, I hope it does not disappoint

This does have promise & EA definitely seem to think so. They've commissioned a comicbook via Image Comics, that will be prequel to the game.

You gotta laugh though at the emphasis on how it's an original IP when in reality it's just a remix of a zillion other popular games.

What came first... The game design or the niffy title?

Anything that may resemble SS2 gets interest from me but not a lot to go on yet.

I remember reading about this a little while back and it sounds promising.

I'm still getting more excited about Sega's Aliens FPS though, despite knowing next to nothing about it. Is that due out this year?

I've been following the progress of this for a while now and have very high hopes for it. Trouble is, the more I look forward to a game, the more it seems to disappoint upon arrival

I'm suprised this doesn't have a bit more coverage here on the forums..

A really rather creepy trailer here:

It's certainly grabbed my attention.

We are jaded by the promise of Survival Horror games that either never come out (Alan Wake) or turn out to be bobbins (Alone in the Dark).

This does look quite good, though.

I have a friend who is working on this game (he works for EA in Geneva), he has assured me it is going to be very good and will shock the doubters out there (me for one).

He is however playing his cards very close to his chect and so far hasnt released too many details on it.

Fingers crossed i will have a copy of it before it hits the shelves so will provide an update when i get my mits on it.

I caught some of Event Horizon the day on TV, and the 'twinkle twinkle little star' trailer has some really nice crossovers.

I thought the trailer by the "saw" director looked good but so many games have failed to live up to the trailers or hype

Believe me he will moan about it if it is a pile of poo......he has done in the past with a huge list of previous titles he has worked on....beleive it or not they do not get to chose what they work on or how it plays etc

I know this but some game developers will still say its masterpiece etc when its poor. I really hope your mate is right as the survival horror series needs a decent game this year (silent hill 5 looks terrible)

Just watching the animated comics available from Xbox Live for this and they are great. Very well done and the game looks like it could be a good un reading the article in OXM this month.

May have to get this one!

There was some good gameplay footage on this week's Playr too. Especially liked the zero-gravity areas.

Its resident evil in space!

No but seriously, I'm getting caught in all the hype. I like what I've seen so far. I'm enjoying the animated comic and I've pre-ordered the movie (which is a surprising 85 minutes long apparently). EA must have a lot of faith in this one.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm glad I've got September off work as I can then get Mercenaries 2, Fable 2 and Star Wars : TFU out the way first
