The comments on the review seem to agree that a 7 is too harsh. I got it on Friday but only played through the first chapter (kind of a tutorial level). Very nicely done and fun although the "timed click" combat interface takes a bit of getting used to. This is an RPG, not an action game though.
Been playing since thursday night and its all awesome except the crazy load times.
Can anyone tell me what happens after you fight the Beast. I have just got to him (died fighting him last night so need to back and re-try), but im worried the chapter will end after i kill kim as theres a couple of sidequests i still need to finish off. Is it still going to be possible to complete them after i beat him?
The beast last night, I just can't get anywhere near killing it, admittedly I was a little drunk while trying (real life, not in game), but I lasted about 5-10secs each time, before being wiped out, was using swallow potion and blizzard, any ideas?
Ah I managed to do it tonight while sober :P

Reason: Solution found
I never used Bombs. I was mainly mele and using the occasional signi. I am an avid RPG fan and this left me wanting more.
EDIT: Also I enjoyed Avencast - Rise of the mage. It got average reviews, and has a weird control system that takes some getting used too. But if you like RPGs like I do, see if you can get hold of a demo, it is a pretty standard dungeon crawler though.
im near the end of chapter 4 now. I have to say the latest patch is excellent and greatly improves the load times.
This is definately my top game of 2007.
Quick question, does anyone actually use the bombs?
After completing Avencast just now, I am tempted to get the new patch a replay The Witcher on the hardest difficulty. It is a great game. Although some of the cutscenes and character models in them had flaws....how many merchants look like that fat one
I love this game and haven't devoted so much time to exploring, interacting and killing stuff since Final Fantasy. I almost find that adding notches to the bedpost exceeds my desire progress the storyline.
