I can't wait, this is probably my favourite show that's still on the air now that VM is gone. I've read some spoilers about the new season and they sound very promising.
Anyway, for those that have read the books, just to let you know that this Season does not follow the plots of the other Book(s) from here on out. Which is a shame given the killer from the Second book. But the creators are starting from scratch this time.

It's quality. You can well imagine it hangin about with R2-D2. And when the fan is switched on it looks like it's scanning for life-forms like R2-D2 does on the ice world of Hoth when Luke Skywalker goes missing. Quality in moton. The other day it disappeared. I said, "where's the bag-l gone? have the jawas come to pick it up in the sandcrawler?" to which one of the girls in the office replied, "No, Les the porter!" —Captainchode
cant wait for this - as one of the other posters has said, I am going to watch this again with the Wife - see how she rates it. TV of the highest quality imo.
As much as I enjoyed the story and Dexter himself the acting from some of the others in the cast was shocking, Sgt Doakes and Lt Laguerta being among the worst but nowhere near as bad as Jennifer Carpenter who was horribly miscast/directed as Debra morgan (not once throughout the season was I able to accept her as a cop/detective).
I'll be looking forward to a new season but hopefully we'll lose a couple of characters early on (the more gruesome, the better )

I thought Jennifer Carpenter was superb, particularly in the last episode. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for a pretty face

Loved Debra and Doakes myself, but couldn't stand Laguerta.

Sounds like a good move to me - the disconnects between the first series and the first book would make the second book trickier to film, and the plot hardly stands up to being stretch into a whole series.
Seems like good quality too and I'm definitley going to watch them, just haven't decided if I should rewatch season 1 before or just watch them directly.

I really liked her myself. In a strange way I thought she was entirely believable -- not a confident good detective like you'd expect from a crime procedural show, but a flawed person with personality. I liked that.
