Slightly over £40 when bought with super saver and paid via google checkout.

In addition, the player has it's own speaker, to share your videos and music, along with a microphone for recording notes and lectures. eBooks can be displayed on the screen and there are seven EQ modes to allow you to find your perfect sound.

I'm pretty certain the Video ipod screen is 2.5 inch, so to answer that question, it'll be fine for watching on a train/bus

looks like a cracking price for an on-the-go type effort. Can anyone find any reviews on it?

How is it for things like battery life? And how does it handle xvid files?

I've searched around the net and couldn't find anything really. But from what I did find, it seems the battery lasts around 6 hours when it's used for video playback. Probably longer (around 10?) for music

I think it comes with software to convert video to the right format and size. Supposedly they downsize to around 170-200MB...so you could fit quite a few tv eps/movies onto it, especially if you get a 2GB mini SD card too...

It'll arrive here tomorrow so i'll post a little review up once i've had a mess about

These do not play any kind of MPEG 4 video such as Divx or Xvid. You have to convert these videos to the players native format (which uses a much lower compression in order for the low power micro to be able to decode). This applies the majority of of the Chinese players advertised as 'MP4' players.

From what I've seen this only supports a memory card up to 1Gb but can't find an on line manual to confirm this.

This looks really good but I had already ordered a yumi from e-buyer last week though still not shipped even though it was meant to be in stock at the time of ordering.

Oddly I can find no mention of JPG support on the Sumvision website but the Jessops site says it has JPG and a radio.

Please tell all when you receive it!

EDITED TO ADD

This site has some clear pics of the box and it does state that JPG image browser is included and supports up to 1Gb mini SD card but maybe it was printed before 2Gb were around so has anyone tested it on a 2Gb?

I think you're thinking of the 2GB models.
Mine arrived today and the manual, along with every other website has stated that the 4GB version supports MPEG-4 (Avi). I'm charging mine at the moment but i'll test it out, but I can't see no reason why they'd lie!

As for the SD slot, again, alot of sites have said it supports upto 2GB, and alot of sites have said 1GB.
The manual it arrived with says 1GB Max, but it also says the player has a radio, which no other site has stated...so it's all a bit confusing - plus I don't have a 2GB Mini SD card to test it either

First impressions though, i'm very impressed/suprised with it...the thing is tiny, only slightly bigger than a zipper lighter! It's something you'd actually feel cool using, unlike that Goodmans 2GB one that was posted here a couple of months back which looks like a circa-99 mini-disk player!

The charger is very unusual - the plug is also a USB adapter...so you use the USB cable for both charging via the mains, and obviously, copying files over from the PC. First time i've seen this...

As for the 2-inch screen, I might be wrong, and slightly dumb after a few years away from education, but the screen doesn't look 2 inches to me, more around the 1.5 mark, but i'll find a ruler soon to make sure!

The build quality is very impressive. The back has a (non-tacky) brushed metal effect (which probably easily scratches), and some speaker holes for annoying people on public transport!
It has a 3mm phono hole, so no need for those big clunky 2.5mm adapters
The materials used as a whole doesn't look cheap at all. Really not that far off what you'd find on a well branded player.

As for the screen, first impressions are very nice. Very clear, and fast - the menu layout is similar to that of a mobile phone (Sagem/Sony Ericsson) - music, video, text, radio, photos, settings etc. The game thats also included is Tetris...there might be more but from first inspections, that doesn't seem the case
I'm not too keen on the font though - it's the one that you see the japanese/chinese use alot (see the tv ants website)...I prefer more cleaner fonts like arial/tahoma, etc. But oh well!

I'll get the software/drivers installed from the CD now and test out the video/audio playback. I'd post photos but my ex stole my camera, and my bluetooth adapter fell apart and died

Does the player come with the software that can compress the files to the right type or will I manually have to use divx etc convertors to play on it?

Yep, the CD comes with a program called 'AVIConverter'. All the settings are stripped down to the one you need (220x176, Mpeg-4), so it's a case of selecting the file and clicking convert

OK, so i've charged it up and i've been having a mess about for the past 20 minutes

A 180mb episode of trailer park boys, converted down to just over 100MB. So you're looking at episodes of Lost/Heroes to be around 200MB, and movies around 250MB.
One thing I noticed straight away is if you keep pressing buttons during playback (i.e. to adjust sound, pause, etc), the animation that happens at the top/bottom of the screen causes the movie to go out of sync slightly.
Maybe it's just a fluke and won't happen again, but it seems it's best to start a movie and avoid pausing it or adjusting settings. Another thing is the movie playback stops if you go back to the main menu, so you need to start it over again.

The radio doesn't seem to work for me. I set it to FM, but the auto search panned from 90 - 101 or whatever and didn't pick up a single thing. Odd...

The folders are fast to navigate, and files (including movies) load instantly. When playing music you get a little visualisation, which looks pretty cool, but probably uses up unnecessary battery power and as far as I can see, there's no way to disable it

I've selected 'pop' from the equaliser, and along with my sennheiser earphones it sounds perfect (i've not even tested the ones that came with it, but from looks alone, it's obvious they are junk).

+ Excellent build quality
+ Fast menus
+ Audio/Video plays instantly
+ ID3 Support, even shows the MP3 Bitrate!
+ Feels far from cheap
+ Small, sturdy
+ As of yet...very stable
+ Tetris!
+ 3mm phono socket

- Upon first playback the videos audio went out of sync
- FM radio just gives me static
- Ugly font
- Crappy, generic earphones
