Prescott was very stiff, & trying to read the autocue & look natural is obviously not one of his strengths, but it was still a very funny half hour for me.
Certainly better than the cringe-fest that was Brucie hosting it last week.
Pretty excruciating stuff - particularly when Hislop talked about him using his parliamentary home for some secret love trysts Hopefully this nips his tv career in the bud.
Did enjoy the attempts to get him to turn down the lordship though
Well, I thought Hislop lived up to his reputation as being a very unpleasant person. Funny, sometimes, and often brilliant at puncturing egos and hitting the proverbial nail on the head on this show and on Question Time. However, if you invite someone to host the show you don't spend the whole time tossing bombs at them. I thought Hislop was mean spirited and peevish throughout while Prescott - a man I normally despise - came out well and sympathetically. One or two snipes is OK but this seemed like a vendetta. It surely hasn't escaped everyone's attention that Paul Merton kept well out of it and acted graciously towards Prescott.

Hislop showed himself to be a typical tory, not concerned with comedy just having a go at Prescott again and again. Merton did himself no favours by keeping out of it one thing to stich up a guest al la Boris Johnston but even there there was a limit. Hislop discraced himself and I don't think I'll ever look at him ever again without thinking he is nasty.

Agree with that. Hislop does need to shut the **** up sometimes.
Also he needs to sort his hair out. Could have the whole show taking the **** out of that.
Hislop is not there to be nice, this is what he does and indeed he did it well. Exposing the embodiment of hipocracy that is the soon to be Lord Prescott.
I quite enjoyed the short form show on Friday night, although I do have a soft spot for Jon Richardson, he defintely makes me laugh (not so much on Stand up for the Week though).
