Dirty Dancing re-release - any venues yet?

Hi,

This is mentioned in a Cineworld thread, so figured it was fine to start a dedicated one.

I had made a note of this re-release as the missus would very much like to see it on the big screen. My note says it should be out this Friday, but I'm struggling to find confirmation anywhere.

Anyone know if this is only heading to select screens? Any details on how good the cleanup is?

Cheers!

It's on at Cineworld on Renfrew Street in Glasgow. I'm fairly sure it's only a Valentine's day thing, not a general re-release.

If it's set for Valentine's day, then chances are it won't hit cinema schedules until the middle of this week sometime. Is this re-release going to be in digital like other recent re-releases?

Mm, certainly looks like Feb 14th only.

Oh well, who am I to argue with marketing.

Is this Cineworld only too?

Yeah, it's defo coming out on Friday (9th). I think the Valentine's thing has been announced ahead of time to allow people to book for it, if they so desire.

Report from Basingstoke -

There is no way that was a remastered / restored / cleaned print!!

I'm pretty sure it was Dolby Surround too, but might be wrong

Good fun though, and the mrs really enjoyed it.

Did anyone catch the digital showing mentioned a few posts above?

Unfortunately not, but it's on at the FACT in Liverpool on the 16th and the 18th of March in digital according to the latest brochure.

Bump for the 20th anniversary CE DVD coming out today - noticed that it has a DTS ES 6.1 discrete soundtrack (and the complementary Dolby Digital 5.1 EX track too)! Impressive specs - a THX enhanced disc too IIRC.

I got the R1 20th Ann set when it come out and it's a cracking version. Sounds great through the home cinema kit.

That's what's on the back of the case - I picked it up off the new release shelf to take a look and was surprised at the quality of the audio options. DTS ES titles don't come along that often and it always seems to be odd releases that have it these days (the last one I can remember was Snakes on a Plane).
