Has anyone noticed a layer-change like pause/break between chapter 2 and 3 on the R1? It does it on both my Philips players. Just as the scroll fades and the pan down to the battle there is a slight pause. It's noticable because of the break in the music.

The discs themselves were indentical to the UK versions, but that's not really the point. I sent it back to them and got a refund, though they were unapologetic for sending it to me in the first place.

All the Star Wars DVD's use multi angles at the point. This makes it possible to have the scrolling yellow text in different languages.

The layer change is when Anakin goes to tell the Chancellor that Obi-Wan has engaged Grievous and Palpatine says he hopes that he is up to the challenge. One thing i did notice is that there is a very obvious lip-synching fault in the scene where Anakin tells Mace Windu that Palpatine is a Sith Lord when Mace gets on to the transport. I'm not sure if this is a fault on the DVD (only checked one copy) or a fault on the film itself but i'd be interested to see if anyone else has noticed this.

What was wrong with the packaging and artwork that warrented sending it back?

Hmm dodgy. Are you sure the ones in shops arent just as shoddy ? Ive seen some shoddy quality printing despite being legit - for example Anchor Bay, HKL.

CD-Wow send a lot of R5 discs out as R2s these days. They are destined for Eastern Europe and invariably have cheaper non-amaray cases, poor quality covers with a lack of certificate marks and the usual bits and pieces you expect on the back, thinner paper and less resolution.
I haven't got their Batman Begins as I've been stung in the past by Ruski versions Harry Potter 3, Eternal Sunshine and Oceans 12 so I've stopped ordering from them. However, it isn't usually the same disc content on an R5 either as the Russian trailers at the start of the disc tend to seperate it from the official R2 release.

Received the R2 this morning from Sainsbury's (heh right on time)

Watched the beginning and the transfer looks and sounds absolutely amazing. Possibly the best picture ive seen on DVD, certainly miles ahead of AOTC.

I see what people mean by the lack of LFE activity from the light sabers compared to the other two in the PT, but it sounds fine the way it is.

This is definately my favourite of the prequel trilogy, i love the way it just kicks into the action after the opening sequence. But i cant take that Dooku fight seriously, it just reminds of Princess Bride and Monkey Island ("I am rubber, you are glue" :lol )

^ What, instead of "I'm-a no left-handed" it's "I'm-a no hands at all, mama!"

There was no reason for Dooku to lose his head over the situation. He only need bid a farewell to arms.

Exactly what the copy of Batman Begins I received was like. The cover art is actually completely different from the 2-disc artwork... it has the US single disc artwork with a large black border around it, and a quote from Ebert & Roeper on the front.

Well, the odd thing is that the discs inside this dodgy packaging did have the BBFC logos on them (along with loads of foreign ones). The film disc starts with a menu containing options for every language spoken worldwide at a guess, but I'm told the normal UK one is the same.

The Region 4 release also has those 4 pages of different languages at the start.

It is just me or does this seem to be happening with every CD-WOW major release these days?

The lip synch during the scene where Anakin tells Sam Jackson about Palpatine being a Sith is the worst I've seen on DVD!

I had the same problem with my R2 from CD-WOW. They only shipped it yesterday, and didn't update my account until after i'd ordered it from Choices Direct. I they cancelled the choices direct order.

But then I saw Ep III for £14.95 in tesco on the way home so got it from there. CD-WOW have already confirmed they'll give me a full refund for there copy (which i expect will arrive tomorrow). I'll stick with them for the cheap R3's but won't rely on them in future for big releases to arrive sharpish.

Their preorders have been terrible in the last year or so. I wont use them any less though, im not normally urgent for the DVD. Still a top company. But i do hope they sort this out especially since we pay on order rather than shipping.
