Watched this earlier.......managed, as soon as the THX bit came up, to get my amp to dsiplay "check speaker connections" before switching my amp off repeatedly.
Nice picture and sound, although lacking in some areas.
I watched my copy, easily the most enjoyable of the PTs but man, there is some terrible acting by Hayden and Natalie. The dialogue is a damp squib too.
Good ole Ian acts everyone else off the stage.
Thank you Axel Music! The sound mix on this DVD is superb IMO. It's not as overblown as previous Star Wars mixes but still features deep bass, crisp dialogue and some outstanding effects steerage, especially across the EX-enabled rear sound stage. The picture quality is similarly superb, although the crisp digital transfer will not be to everyone's taste.
And as for the film, it's got an emotional heft that not even Empire can top. I loved it, and can't wait to get stuck in to the DVD extras.
The Phantom Menace sequences in the documentaries and trailers/music videos look to have much better DVD transfers than the one on the movie released back whenever, so can we expect a new improved DVD of episode 1 ? I haven't seen Sith before and thought it was a good end to the sequels, Hayden is a good actor (see Shattered Glass) and those dissing him are following a herd mentality without bothering to watch his performance.
Funny, I've watched II and III a few times and came to the conclusion that he's crap all on my lonesome. Lucas feeding him utterly awful dialogue and probably nothing in the way of direction (apart from which "X" to stand on against the greenscreen) probably didn't help.
I'm unsure about whether to get R1 or R2?! I have R1 of all the other SW flicks but ROTS is the first one I couldn't be arsed to see in the cinema (thanks to the general pointlessness of going to the cinema these days as the experience is nearly always ruined by total *****). Is there anything at all between the 2 regions that would make it worth having one over t'other? I only got R1 for all the previous films to have the music at the correct speed!

He was a bit better in ROTS, although all the actors could have been better with a bit more substance to the script.
It's a shame the prequels had a trilogy limitation, as things were starting to get interesting in AOTC, and ROTS could easily have been two films and allowed for some further plot development. Despite being well over 2 hrs it felt very rushed.
I also came to the conclusion that CGI Yoda doesn't convince.
