SilverCrest KH 6778 DVD player

I recently bought a SilverCrest KH 6778 DVD player in Lidl (dirt cheap - £23.00, if I remember rightly).
I got this as a present for somebody and was wondering if there was a way to make it region-free, or at least alter the region?
Haven't taken it out the box to check if it is region-free already, and was wondering if anyone here had one, or knew anything about them?

It can be made region free by doing this -

Open tray and press 2812 on your remote.

You can change the Region at this point

or

Put the Region to number 9 to play everything.

It's a good player and is a newer version of their previous Ebench KH6777 player.

I have played various DVD-R's,+R's and +RW's with no problems. It also plays DL+R discs.

I wouldn't expect DiVX for £23. They did a DivX once but, it cost £50 at the time.
