Star Wars TV series. Speculation, Fantasy, even Facts!
I wanted to start a Thread on any Possible Star Wars TV series that may get commsioned after Episode III.
Lucas has mentioned that he might licence afterwards.
Just want to know when do you think it should be set?
What Format should the show take?
I think an anthology show, like The Outer Limits where every week a differnt story could be told, from any point in the SW universe, back stories of charaters you only see snippets of from the movies, "what happend to?" stories that sort of thing.

I think a series set long before the 6 films would be good - set somewhen when the Jedi and Sith were at war although they could do a lot worse than use the stories/settings from the KOTOR games.

Either Old Republic or after Return Of The Jedi. Im not sure how long after. Formation of the New Republic could be interesting but we can't have anything with human characters from any films as that will just be silly.
At the Evening With Kevin Smith last Monday he was asked are the rumours about his involvement true. He said that he'd read it too, but then changed subjects rather too rapidly for my liking. There was no outright denial.
Kevin Smith has always done that, he refuse to confirm or deny it, there was no point asking him because he'd announce it as soon as he is able.
I think it's best set just before the first film with the same characters/locations but none of the main events. Either that or just after Jedi but then the story pretty much ends with Jedi. Maybe they could use Lucas' ideas for the final triology as a basis. Then again if it's like the second trilology that might be a bad idea.
Rich canon from the officially-approved novels - Heir to the Empire trilogy, the X-Wing series, but not sure beyond that whether the whole Jedi Academy or Yuuzhan Vong stuff would work - especially with the latter, that was when I gave up on the books.
As long it was well panned and thought out from season to season it could work really well the SW universe has endless possibilities. I don’t think cost would be too much of a factor to be honest as they will make so much money out if pale insignificantly to the original investment.
Just last year TNN in the US paid the ludicrous price of $1 million per episode of TNG and this show is almost twenty years old.
Surely a series would cost to much to produce, with all the special effects that are needed.
R U Nuts band of brothers cost in excess of 100 million dollars and that got made, how much money do you think a star wars TV show would generate worldwide, if they can make star trek spin on for 35 years I think they can make star wars pay

Well, there are strong rumours 'out there' that Mark Hamill may come back as an older Luke Skywalker in a 'mentor to the new generation of Jedi' role. He's even stated that he'd be up for it iirc.
That would work for me . I'm sure they could dig up some old remnants of the Empire to give the New Republic a run for its money (a la Heir to the Empire), and conjour up a sith from somewhere -- or even have a new Jedi turn to the darkside (or even Luke!). My winky is already weeping at the possibilities...
