Flipside TV - C4

Not since the days of Club X or The Girlie Show have Channel 4 offered up such a slipshod piece of cack as this.

On nightly in the wee small hours: Watch and be appalled.

really does show how far c4 have dropped doesn't it. Can you imagine the meeting were they thought it was a good idea.

"So we get minor celebs to watch telly and point out what people should be watching instead of this crap?"

"Erm yeah"

"and the set could be orange, I like it... hurt me gunther"

Had to laugh the other night as one guest was just surfing for porn and Richard Bacon just wanted to watch something he was on.

the worst thing is - Ch4 didnt make it thinking it would be great, they have bought the show from 2nd cheapest sky channel Nation 277 or something like (first cheapest being friendly tv) that, so they already knew it was rubbish!

Followed by a quick burst of "We're so good at telly"

Worst. show. ever.

Edit: Just following up on why. Seriously, it's the worst show, worst concept and generally a new low for C4. Crap TV "highlights" put on a crap TV show with crap "comedians" making crap jokes. 1 and a half hours most nights too. It's obscene. I was listening to it in the background, wondering when it would end. I like most bad TV shows, but this was so terrible it had no redeeming features at all. It's not even so good it's bad, it's just plainly bad. I find it disturbing that C4 decide to show this crap when they still have S3 of The West Wing to show and, I'm sure, plenty of other shows. Hell, even the generic US drama shows they show at 4am are better. Seriously, godawfully terrible.

In case you didn't notice from the above, I didn't like it.

Dear god, I actually found myself watching about 5 minutes of this utter garbage, thinking it might be 'so bad its good'. No way.

Urgh. If channel 4 are commisioning this doo-doo then I am totally in there with the idea of a crime-fighting-dentist-comedy-drama-action-ala-diagnosis murder- series 'Cavities of the Law'*

* A friend and myself really did have this idea and ARE looking into working it into at least a short. hehe

Bilge, utter bilge.

Tivo recorded it as a suggestion. I only manage to sit through 10 minutes before realising that it wouldn't get any better...

Tivo has been severely warned not to record it again (well a thumbs down for that proggy).

Bring back all those late night music programs they used to have.

Loved Flipside on nation 277, and have been eagerly waiting for it to come back.

Haven't seen the C4 version, but Flipside TV on nation was an excellent show.
It had good hosts and funny guests, and was on from about 8-10, so they were discussing better shows too no doubt, and could get away with more.

I haven't seen it on Channel 4 but apparently it is just a simulcast of the Nation 277 one.
