I picked up 2 of each of those in the space of an hour yesterday. Seemed a bit odd.

I know why they've done it, but it's a tad annoying that not everyone will have a chance to get these mons...

Unown. One spawned in Stockport on Friday evening and people sped (literally) to get it. It was a B, many people completed their Pokedex.

On Saturday they were all over Manchester! I drove in and picked that and Kangaskan up. They are spawing up the the M60, which is about 4 miles away. Just need an E, got U, R, O and P now.

Then one spawned down the road from me at 2.30am last night! I'd be slightly miffed if I'd missed that otherwise.

Caught a Zapdos on my first Raid today, about 13 other people in the fight and mostly Golem or Rhydon attacking.
Second from last special ball (had 8 in total) caught it, though it did take a Golden Razz Berry, spin shot and Great throw all together before it stayed down.

Got a Zapdos and a Lugia today. Now I need some stardust to buff them into something useful, annoying to have wasted so much of it now I want to build up multiples of useful Pokemon

Not in Manchester, the radius has shrunk massively to the edge of Salford over to Rusholme only.

Save incubators for 10k eggs and keep your lucky eggs until you've got lots more Pokemon to evolve. you'll get loads of xp for 'new' evolutions.

Put lots of Pokemon in gyms for coins, even crap ones.

Don't waste stardust upgrading Pokemon yet, wait until you've got some strong evolutions e.g. vaporeon, golem, tyranitar and Dragonite. It'll take you ages to get some of those but bear in mind there seems little point boosting them above 3000cp.

Under the current game, Stardust is the main resource and the only real need to catch Pokemon at all.

You can bob along to a raid with enough players and get 10,000 point and some rare candy just for being there, essentially. You might then catch a legendary, these are at level 20. Other raids can get you a Tyranitar or two. With these you can take down any gym, without catching any other Pokemon. You can stick your common Pokemon in a gym and earn coins, without having to do much. Doing your free raid every day will see you fly through the levels.

It is important to understand how the game works, pidgey grinding with lucky eggs is a way to level up fast, all the better if it's during a double XP event! You should also understand what IV means, to save you powering up bad Pokemon. Use Pokegenie or similar.

You will hatch level 20 Pokemon, you can catch up to level 30 in the wild, so there's no point powering anything up until you reach that point. You can power Pokemon to 1.5 levels past your own level. At level 30 the powerup CP increases half!

Thanks. Naive question, what do you mean by level 20 Pokémon?
I'll keep catching just now and climbing the levels

Which team should I join?

You have a level as a player, whatever that is currently. Pokemon also have levels, which is what powering up changes, although you only see the CP change. You can only power Pokemon up to your own level (actually it's 1.5 above I think) to a maximum of level 40. But if you are level 15 say, you can catch a level 20 Pokemon from a raid. You won't be able to power it up for the above reason.

Teamwise, up to you. See what colour your local gyms are. When doing a raid you get extra balls for your team doing the most damage, so it pays to be in the most popular one locally.

What level are you on now?

Anyone ever had issues with the accuracy of km walked?
Seems to always record a lot less that actual distance walked even when keeping the screen on the map view

About 25% through Level 34, where you need 1,250,000 points to level up.

Yeah, the accuracy of recorded walked against actual distance travelled is way off. PoGo records far less than you actually travel, plus any speed over (IIRC) 12mph it won't be recorded.

My slow 3.5km cycle into work, with frequent stops for gyms and spins usually records about 1km which is stupid, but there you go. I tend to make up more distance with the phone in my back pocket walking around the office.

This morning me & my other half went for a drive to Brentwood to catch a Kangaskhan and Unown. Niantic extended the range for those two outside targetted cities by 40km and Brentwood was the closest town.

After driving around for 20 mins, we found the Kangaskhan but no Unown, so headed to Romford and both got one there (the letter 'p').
