Interesting article:

Netflix is $20 BILLION in debt. Commentators seem split on future, maybe with slight emphasis on positivity.

Good article, not sure it's a bleak picture as discussed. I think they struggle with worldwide licencing stuff so their own stuff makes sense.

But a lot of it is bought in, I think Kimmy Schmidt was a network show who then changed their minds. A lot of the originals are not available in the USA as they're network shows there.

I don't own shares, so I'm ok

Do the rentals work the same way as in the US?

Quote:
If you rent, you'll have 30 days from when you rent to start watching, and once you start watching, most movies have a 24-hour window to finish watching. Once the rental is over, the movie will automatically disappear from Your Video Library.

People equate debt with failing, but most large corporations have lots of debt. Netflix still make profit and they have 100 million subscribers which is just staggering.

The amount of quality content (which I guess is very subjective) will keep people paying every month. I mean Netflix is pretty the term now used for VOD and cause they have a policy on begging on every platform and device I can't see them going anywhere.

The only team concern is they are limited to how much they can raise prices as Amazon will probably always be cheaper.

Yeah, this has been on my radar for a long time. The look & feel of it is very "Zodiac" which is no bad thing.

Slightly off topic but Netflix have just bought Millarworld. comic writer Mark Millars comic company. He wrote the comics most of Marvel's movies are based on as well as his own ips Wanted, kick ass and the Kingsman. The deal covers his other books and future titles.

Great, looking forward to seeing this again.

Amazon are now, IMO, doing a way better job than Netflix for adding quality recent films.

I just switch one of these two would start adding more 4K films. AFAIK only Netflix do and it's just their original stuff, which the quality of is mixed...

It's the Villanueve movie and not the Charlie Sheen one right?

I also noticed Amazon added a boat load of older but good movies like City of God, Goodfellas, Team America etc

There is only https://www.cinemaparadiso.co.uk/ (unless anyone has heard of any more) Never used but will be trying them out

Its annoying Amazon killing the service off but they have been slowly running the service into the ground and blaming royal mail for everything I emailed them why it takes 2 to 4 days to get a disc back to them but when they send the discs I get next day all the time. The useless idiots at amazon just stuck to the script of blaming royal mail

I see the usual tech obsessed freaks on various forums tossing one over the closure of the service despite not using it I can see how less people use it because of streaming but it seems it has customer base still

9.99 for unlimited 2 at time discs a month vs ONE streaming rental at 3.49 to 4.49, hardly good value
