alt-J - Relaxer is getting a number of plays. Can't decide if I like it or not.

I really like half the alt j album the other half is complete bobbins. It's like they can't decide if there playing for arenas or bed sits.

I recently made two 70s prog discoveries - Epidaurus' Earthly Paradise and the first album from British band Odin, from '72. The latter is a highly enjoyable mash up of Yes, ELP and Sabbath, a bit derivative but done with enough energy and commitment to make a great record.

More recent stuff: case / lang/ veirs self titled debut is a pure delight; as is Laura Veir's earlier solo album Carbon Glacier.

And I bought a 7" for the first time in about forty years: Dave Steward/Colin Blunstone What becomes of the broken hearted - superb!

Not overly keen on the new Alt J, certainly wont be buying it.
Quite liking Saint Etienne they really are unique and havent lost any of that English quirkiness.
I have bought the new London Grammar album but not heard it yet, I heard some of the new tracks a their Round Chapel gig back in April so am expecting more of the same not that that's necessarilly a bad thing.

Just pre ordered the new Paul Draper (ex Mansun Singer) album and also Arcade Fire so looking forward to those.

The new Roger Waters album is really rather good. I just hope we get the tour over here at some point.

I'm still not sure about it. It has the right ingredients but it's not really engaging me. It's instantly forgettable which is not something you can normally level at Roger Waters.

It took me a few listens but I love it now.

I've just picked up Goths by The Mountain Goats. Tip top stuff after a single listen.

New Lorde album is stunning. Going to take something special to stop this being my favourite album of the year.

Also listening to the new Moby album and Cracked Actor by Sir Bowie!

Lorde Album is great, I agree. Not my normal listening fodder.

The new Ride album is a grower too. Maybe not as good as the Slowdive one but great to see them both back.

Spent the week divide between Lorde's & Royal Bloods latest.
Have to say on the first few listens I thought both were OK, but a bit disappointing compared to both their debut albums.

However after a few listens I think Royal Bloods is an excellent "hear & now" listen. In a few years it won't be ranked as much as their first, but hits the spot in a big way at the moment.

Think Lordes is fantastic now, and so interesting on so many levels. This girl is a real talent.

Currently listening to Pumarosa debut album "The Witch".
This was yet another purchase based on a performance on "Later with Jools Holand" ( my bank balance breaths a sigh of relief when that programmes off air ).

Great album it is too, it's not often that a band manages to successfully come up with their own refreshing style/sound on their first album to distinguish themselves from what's out there at the moment.
Highly recommended

London Grammar - enjoying the new album

Had a long drive to Wales today and was listening to:
Air - Moon Safari - will never tire of that album
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs - another classic

Heard this on the radio the other day, from 1972, Rod Stewart on guest vocals! Great track:
