I'm just after

Ampharos
Yanma
Unown
Hitmontop

So I kind of agree, they need to sort the region specific ones so those can be got without cheating but otherwise more Pokemon and Legendaries need to drop soon otherwise I'm done. I can't be arsed with the gyms etc.

Think that'd make a decent event, the regionals will spawn anywhere or something. Not massively sure what the point of them is except to show people who GPS spoof and leave legit players with a hole in their pokedex.

Stuggled for the hitmon pokemon for ages, but now had a fair few eggs with a Tyrogue in it

A new Pokéstop near me turned up this morning (at a pub), with another close-by Pokéstop (church) 'evolved' into a gym.
First time I've seen that happen.

That'll be down to the new portal review process in ingress. Level 16 players (highest rank in ingress) can review portal candidates (which could also become Pokestops) and if enough of them approve it then it becomes active.

As I was walking in Spain, I was a little shocked at the lack of Pokestops. I know I was out in the countryside, but statues, churches, things of interest, nothing. Round here, a stop can be a bench or a dustbin in some cases. I guess it needs more ingress players. You needed a cathedral to be sure of getting something

The problem was Niantic gave out a badge based on approved submissions. So people were submitting any junk and some even got approved. So yeah, rubbish bins may have made it through. Niantic realised it wasn't sustainable and closed off submissions about 2 years ago now, so there's places that have very little.

It was a nice rubbish bin, in the shape of something, I forget, but it was a rubbish bin

First one I've seen!

I still don't believe the Unown exists! Nobody in the Brum area has one.

It's odd, I was in Spain and different things just spawned there. Never saw a Rat hardly, but the common thing was an Ekans and a Slugma (compared to stuff we'd never seen). No Pidgey, etc.

A Hounder I'd never seen in the UK was an uncommon spawn but not rare, probably a Drowzee level spawn.

Still struggling with catching stuff here, this rock event means that after walking my Onyx for miles and only just evolving a Steelix, they are now everywere! Need to catch lots of Larvitars...

Larvitars and Slugmas for me, though I have a high CP Graveller almost ready to evolve into a Golem.

Caught a Magcargo last night, and a CP10 Shuckle, so that was 2 down. Just caught a 95.6% Rhyhorn outside my house on the hourly spawn, which will do.

Sods law, I'd spent considerable time walking my grass pokemon and then they did the event. I've also had enough egg hatches of what I now no longer need (after walking for miles) to think it's not a coincidence.

My strategy for walking things you need, is to walk the one you need the most candy of, and then when you've walked it a bit, change it to the next lowest, etc. It's not as satisfying as walking the easiest you need, but probably more efficient as you catch and hatch a few as you go along.

I've gone back to earning Dratini candies as they can stay in a gym and earn me coins to buy incubators, is my theory. Got another 98% one that needs feeding!

Snorlax buddy for me, although I've got 12 pokemon in gyms and have had for a while. Some of them aren't even good pokemon

I've got a >3K Snorlax and candies to up it more if needed. Really struggle with gyms around here, most of them are level 10 and don't change hands much.

I'm pretty sure you are higher level and have higher cp pokemon than me. I've spent my time finding slightly out of the way gyms that are more likely to not be attacked, but for instance I've had a cp 2332 Jolteon in a gym for about three months. It was about 5th of 8 when I put in in there and now it is 10th of 10, so I'm surprised it hasn't been skimmed. A lot of it seems to be getting the right pokemon in the right gym at the right time
