I am a bit fearful about what will happen during the Ashes series but only time will tell I guess. We need a good summer with Root hitting the ground running as the new captain, I just hope they haven't put to much on his shoulders seeing as he plays in all three formats.

I really think he shouldn't play in T20 internationals.

I agree and I can't really see why currently he still does. When he was made captain it would have been an ideal time to say that he will only play test and ODI cricket, perhaps this will still happen one day.

His batting isn't suited for T20 and he hasn't bowled in them for a while. A couple of times recently even though he has scored runs he has got bogged down and ended up either getting out at a crucial time or his batting partner has when trying to push on. He has more time to build in 50 over cricket and obviously test cricket.

Fantastic unbeaten century by Stokes in the IPL in a thrilling finish winning the game with one ball to spare. Great entertainment.

That really was a truly great innings given the state his team were in when he arrived at the crease and the fact that by the end he had cramp and had to be treated at the wicket. There have been some good games of late the best so far for me was the tied one from a few nights ago which resulted in a super over.

Does anyone know if Stokes is staying for RPS' crucial final match against KXIP? I thought that the England players are coming back for national duty?

I think Stokes, Woakes and Butler all return to the UK on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians are playing their final group match on Saturday and so Buttler is available if they want to choose him. But now that there are no concerns about MI losing one of the top 2 spots, they might stick with Simmons to give him more match practice.

I am sure Smith and Co will try to keep Stokes for their crucial tie against KXIP on Sunday, especially if SRH win tomorrow. That latter eventuality would mean that RPS would get squeezed out of the Last 4 if they lose to KXIP. Stokes has become an important, inspirational figure to RPS with the bat, ball and field. He could play on Sunday and take a later flight.

Great win for England today, really impressive all round. Butler's ramp was outrageous.

I'm just surprised that they managed to get a full game in with the rain that has been around today, we are playing well at the moment and are in the great position of knowing that a win on Saturday will knock the Aussies out.

Be funny if our match with Australia gets rained off and they go out without finishing a match

Despite breezing through the tournament and making light work of Bangladesh, NZ and Aus, England are on course for an utter thumping against Pakistan. It's like the England of old have returned. Garbage.

It can happen to any team and Pakistan are capable of beating anyone and losing to anyone. One bad game does not make England a bad team

Where did I say they were a bad team? They are playing total and utter garbage today. Am I wrong?

They did bowl well but not that well. After a reasonable start England batsmen started to choke against some quality spin bowling and passed the initiative to the Pakistanis, who grabbed it with both hands.

I'm never one turn on a team after a bad game and yes Pakistan did bowl well but come on. England were garbage all day long and reminiscent of the awful performances in the last World Cup. Just because the opposition is putting in a good performance doesn't mean you are free from criticism. A great team should rise to the occasion. England are a very good team these days but not quite there yet.
I imagine that there are some people that will be calling for inquiries and heads to roll. I don't think that there is a great deal to change and this experience will help. None of the players will want experience it again so should step up.
