Day of the Jackal 1973 Coming to Blu Ray 2017

Did not expect to see this in HD anytime soon but it seems are Aussie friends will be getting a BluRay release of the Day of the Jackal in March this year.

ezydvd Australia have it listed as March 2nd but there are no details as to extras.

Shock Records Distribution are the distributor.

Anyone want to speculate as to if we'll see a UK release? Seems strange that a European film would NOT have had a release on Blu Ray in Europe by now.

There has been an HD transfer of this around for a long time. Would be great to see a UK release.

I'm always let down by the ending, I've been hoping he'd do it all the way through

Given Universal own this then a UK release probably needs to come from Fabulous Films who are the people releasing their less commercial back catalogue they don't want to release themselves.

After a long wait for it to arrive from Australia, the final verdict is that it could have been a lot better.

Positives

1080p tansfer
Anamorphic transfer at last
Colour seems right

Negatives

No remastering of any kind
Plenty of white flecks
Some scenes softer than others

Still all in all well worth upgrading

Good news for us fans! Arrow are releasing it on 4th September with a couple of extras! - http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk/the-day-of-the-jackal/
I'm sure it will be the best picture quality available, knowing Arrow.

Coming from Arrow, I'm hoping that they give it a clean-up.
