Schweinsteiger has gone. Strange timing, but think he's been injured for the past few weeks. A real shame we didn't get him 5 years ago, a truly great player, but his legs have gone. Ibra, Rooney and him in the same team in 2012 would have been truly awesome. Hope he does well in the MLS.

Serious question ... how is he allowed to leave outside the transfer window ? Or is it a case of United terminating his contract ?

I don't think there is a window for selling/releasing a player, that can happen anytime providing the new club's local transfer window is open, there isn't a fixed window worldwide.

Edit - Wikipedia explains it far better:

"The transfer window of a given football association governs only international transfers into that football association. International transfers out of an association are always possible to those associations that have an open window. The transfer window of the association that the player is leaving does not have to be open."

Technically wasn't he a free agent so the above wouldn't apply anyway!

Free transfer, so I assume he was released from contract by mutual consent.

Well, loads of possession but yet another useless, lacklustre performance...let's see if we can do better second half, ain't holding my breath though!

The most frustrating thing is that we've had all these injuries in recent matches and no-one has taken the opportunity to step up - the younger players have wasted the chance to stake a claim and arguably our best players have been Young, Fellaini, Valencia - all the old boys. Now today we're going to rely on an old knackered Rooney to break WBA down, and next week Ibra, another old boy, will be back.

Some of our young'uns need to step up and have a go!

Seriously, we must have had 80% possession in this match and we're not coming away with all the points? ...ludicrous!

We get a free kick just a few moments from the end. Everyone should have been in the box & the kick fired there, instead the fart around & end up with another useless cross into the box. This team is HOPELESS.

Rubbish. They came and did their job. We all knew they were going to do that, and we still had no answers. I know we're players down etc. but there should have been enough out there today to at least trouble Foster more than once.

As directionless and as pointless as anything we saw under Moyes and LVG. It can't be the managers fault again, can it? The next time a few of those players should be playing at Old Trafford is in an away shirt, for a WBA style team.

Harsh, it was a clever finish.

We miss Mata.

That display was a total disgrace. Most of this overpaid tripe would not get into any of the top teams. We need new top players everywhere on the pitch. I have never questioned De gea, but I have noticed he is not as good as he once was. The last game after a corner etc he had the ball, & instead of a quick throw of the ball so we can run up the pitch with only a few to play against, he held onto the ball, & by the time it was released the other team had their bus in position, yet again. This happened over & over, I sometimes think all this season I am wanting to get fourth place. FOURTH BLOODY Place, I should be wanting FIRST. We are a million miles off even fourth place, especially if we blow this game.

Ha!!! I was just reading The Red Cafe forum & this was one of the last posts. Much the same as I was saying.

Quote:
This is what it comes down to. It's not even the fault of the following players that we are so mediocre, it's on the people that have built this roster. These guys wouldn't be bought by teams above us if they were available.

Young
Fellaini
Lingard
Rojo
Rashford
Carrick
Blind
Herrera (standing out among this lot says nothing)

You can add in:
Jones
Rooney
Smalling
Darmian

It's funny they were actually on the bench tonight but players like Mhki and Martial should regularly be on our bench. Only problem is there should actually be better players on the field ahead of them, not a bunch of future West Ham players.
