Anyone else tried the new Syfy show, "Blood Drive"?

It's a grindhouse style, road-race gore-fest with excessive swearing, blacked-out nudity & gallons of fake blood spraying everywhere!

If it wasn't for the dirty Megan Fox lookalike main female lead, I'd drop this like a stone, but for sheer "it's so bad, it's great" vibes, I'll give it a few more. Any show that has your hot female lead, strip down & demand doggy-style sex to avoid her head exploding, while driving a muscle car at hi-speed, deserves a watch!

New "End of the World" mini-series, "Salvation" started this week, with the standard "Oh No! An extinction-level Asteroid is going to hit Earth" scenario.

First episode was kinda dull. Doesn't offer much new to the situation & the Billionaire "saviour" was annoyingly smug & the main "geek" was dull as dishwater.

Will give it another couple episodes to see if they can come up with some interesting solutions...

Second episode was bette than the first, but it's still a bit 'meh'. The main family are awful.

I'm hoping it will turn into an unintentional Under The Dome-style comedy.

I've watched the first four & it's been boring so far.

Far too talky, not much happens & full of dull characters. I have it running in the background & only pay attention when you get the obligatory one FX/creepy/gory scene per episode...

If it wasn't for it being the Summer lean TV period, I'd have dropped it already...

Have to say I enjoyed it more than that as it was a lesser spotted outing for Juan Carlos Fresnadillo who made Intacto, 28 Weeks Later and Intruders. Will definitely catch the rest of it....

Somewhere Between sounds interesting enough with a cop caught in a rerun of a murder they must stop a la Groundhog Day, but 15 minutes of sacharine family dynamics and the kind of human beings who only live in network producers heads was enough for me to bin it.

Midnight, Texas casts an actual Psychic into the middle of a faultline between this world and a netherworld of monsters and ghosts. It's good fun and perhaps a good place for those running from the sh!tness of Preacher to find themselves.

Ditto. After the 19th time the irritating child screeched about 'Jesse' I wanted to kick my TV in. Was quite happy to hear she got murdered. Not for me.

A couple of other newbies I am enjoying at the moment though:

I'm Dying Up Here about stand-up comics in 1970s LA is ticking along quite nicely.

I'm Sorry, a Curb Your Enthusiasm-style sitcom with Andrea Savage is well worth a look.

& recent Netflix effort Friends From College probably wasn't as funny as it should have been, but had a great cast & at 8 half-hour episodes, didn't outstay its welcome.

My thoughts exactly. The mother should have been relieved, not upset!

So annoying as I always like a "Groundhog Day" style show but this was so bad on so many levels.

The first 3 episodes of Get Shorty are 'out there' now.

There's almost no connection to Elmore Leonard's classic novel or the movie adaptation, aside from the basic 'mob guy goes to Hollywood' plot thread. They couldn't even be bothered to keep the same character names.

That said, it's still pretty entertaining & Chris O'Dowd & Ray Romano are watchable as ever. Liked it.

Anyone else tried "Manhunt: Unabomber", the new 8-part mini-series from the Discovery channel?

Watched the first two episodes yesterday & enjoyed it as I know little of what actually happened. Very good cast with Paul Bettany as Ted (the Unabomber) & Sam Worthington as the main FBI agent that tracked him down.

It looks good (definitely going for a clinical, Fincher-style) & well directed by Banshee/Quarry's Greg Yaitanes. My only complaint so far is the pacing is a little slow.

Yeah, that was a good start. Felt similar to the recent "The Night Of" mini-series which is no bad thing. Bill Pullman plays "tortured, quirky" detective very well & the lovely Jessica Biel was surprisingly effective in the lead role...

Anyone tried the latest Stephen King 10-part miniseries, "Mr Mercedes"?
I recently read the book & was impressed with King's attempt at a non-horror, hard-boiled detective novel.
The first episode was enjoyable & very true to the book so far. Brendan Gleeson plays the lead role & is great as always. The "bad-guy" is also suitably creepy & decent writing from the always dependable David E. Kelley...

I watched the trailer and I wasn't sure about it. I've read the trilogy which I enjoyed,
so I might give it a go.
