Spec me a PS3 replacement please! :o)

I currently use my PS3 for Blu-ray and DVD playback, haven't played a game on it for months, so it seems a little wasted to me, and a HTPC might be a better option.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced (£500 maximum), quiet, 'subtle', SFF machine that will do the following :-

*Play back both HD-DVD (I'll be replacing a Toshiba HD-EP30 too) and Blu-ray

*Has HDMI output with HD sound to my Sony STR-DG910 amp, the amp can play back Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD (via LPCM as far as I'm aware, if this makes any difference?) if the source can decode it (as the PS3 does), but unfortunately can't decode it internally.

*Can be totally controlled by my Harmony 885 including turning on and off if this is possible?

*Anything else I might need.

This machine will probably end up replacing my Toshiba, PS3 and EEE 701, and possibly my Sky box in the long term too. Cheers.

A reasonably specced Core2Duo (E6400ish), 2Gb ram, ATI 4x00 video card with HDMI connector or dongle and the aforementioned LG GGC-H20L is enough.
I'm using the above spec in a shuttle + Hauppauge HVR-4000 tuner for BBCHD and windows 7 beta.
You will also need to buy Power DVD as the version supplied with the LG drive is limited to 2.0 sound and the MS USB IR receiver.
Windows7 BTW will play Bluray files stored on the HDD.

That's what I'm intending to do, hence starting this thread!

Don't forget powerdvd v8 no longer plays back HD-DVD without a lot of messing around with files from older versions.

I had a HTPC with the LG Blu/HD-DVD Combi drive until a few weeks ago and I've gone the other way and swapped it all for a ps3 (keeping my tosh hd-dvd as well), too much messing around for me and nothing ever worked as well as it could/should, nothing major, just the usual pc problems, might get one again in a few years time but for now the overall usability of htpc's is not there yet.

The LG drive still comes with PowerDVD 7.3 as far as I know which happily enough plays HDDVD and (most) Blurays.
